My last day at Grammarly

Yaroslav standing among a packed audience.

Yesterday was my last day at Grammarly.

In the summer of 2017 my life changed.

I learned that out of ordinary apartments in a building on Tereshchenkivska Street, next to Shevchenko Park in Kyiv, guys and girls can build things that outdo what Silicon Valley startups and global corporations were doing.

I learned that a company is not some abstract “them” making wise decisions somewhere far away — a company is “us”, and ideas are invented and shipped at ordinary desks in your own work area or in a meeting room nearby.

Over 9 years we did a great many things worth being proud of. It’s a little sad that, if not for covid and the invasion, we might have done even more, and even better.

To all Grammarlians and ex-Grammarlians 💚
